Grant proposals are developed through a collaborative process between our staff and potential applicants, then reviewed by the Lenfest Board of Directors.
The organization submits an inquiry to the foundation via the form located here. A foundation representative reviews the inquiry and responds directly to the contact person. NOTE: E-mail inquiries will not be accepted.
The foundation initiates a phone conversation to learn more about the organization, its relevant programming, and its internal strengths and weaknesses.
If the organization and program align with our priority areas, a foundation representative visits, observes current program activities, and determines whether an invitation to submit a proposal will be issued.
If invited to proceed to this stage, the organization is asked to draft an investment proposal and project plan.
The Lenfest Board of Directors reviews proposals.
A decision is communicated within two days of the Board meeting. The Foundation then finalizes a detailed grant agreement that includes performance metrics and a reporting schedule.
